U ime Opštine Kotor kao pokrovitelja i svoje lično ime, sa iskrenim zadovoljstvom pozdravljam organizatore, učesnike i goste nove pozorišne manifestacije „Festival Teuta – Novi Antički Teatar“.

U svojoj viševjekovnoj tradiciji, ponosan na bogatstvo kulturno-istorijskog nasljeđa, Kotor je odavno prepoznatljiv kao jedinstvena riznica naše duhovnosti i kulture. Izuzetno bogatstvo prirode i civilizacije u gradu svjetske kulturne baštine, na obalama jednog od najljepših zaliva svijeta, znači i obavezu više u naporima da sačuvamo materijalnu i duhovnu snagu Kotora, kako bismo na pravi način valorizovali vrijedno istorijsko nasljeđe i bogate potencijale kojima raspolažemo.

S obzirom na dugu tradiciju pozorišnog života u Kotoru (u kojem su još početkom XV vijeka, kao i u većini evropskih gradova tog vremena, prikazivane pozorišne predstave religioznog karaktera, a 1810. osnovano stalno pozorište, jedno od prvih na ovim prostorima), smatram izuzetno značajnim napore usmjerene ka afirmaciji i oživljavanju pozorišne umjetnosti. Nadam se da će Festival Novog Antičkog Teatra ambicioznim pozorišnim programom dati značajan doprinos tim naporima. S druge strane, i Kotor će Festivalu podariti bogatstvo svojih antičkih lokaliteta – jedinstvenih otvorenih scena i adekvatnog okvira za prezentaciju ovog teatarskog izraza koji će povezati kulturnu baštinu i živu kulturu.

U nadi da će festivalski program opravdati očekivanja publike i uložene napore učesnika i organizatora, želim uspjeh i dug pozorišni život Festivalu Novog Antičkog Teatra.

Welcome to Kotor

On behalf of the municipality of Kotor and on my personal behalf, it is with great pleasure that I would like to greet the organisers, participants and guests of this new theatrical event “the Teuta Festival – New Antique Theatre“.
During its centuries-long tradition, proud of its rich cultural and historical heritage, Kotor has been recognized as a unique treasury of our spirituality and culture. The exceptional richness of the natural beauty and civilization of this world’s cultural heritage town, which lies on the shores of one of the most beautiful bays in the world, presents an additional obligation for us to make more effort to preserve the material and spiritual strength of Kotor, in order to properly appreciate the valuable historical heritage and rich potential that we have at our disposal.

Considering the long tradition of the theatre in Kotor (during the 15th century theatrical plays of a religious character were staged, as in many other European towns of that period, while in 1810 a permanent theatre was established, one of the first theatres in this region), I think that efforts directed towards the affirmation and development of the theatre are very important. I hope that the Festival of the New Antique Theatre, with its ambitious theatrical programme will significantly contribute to these efforts. On the other hand, Kotor will provide the festival with its rich antique locations – unique open-air stages and an adequate framework for the presentation of this theatrical form, which will connect cultural heritage and live culture.

Hoping that the festival programme will justify the expectations of the audience and efforts made by participants and organisers, I wish a successful and long theatrical life to the Festival of the New Antique Theatre.
